Why it’s important to support your local clubs

As a business that strives to support its community, we have always understood the importance a local club brings to an area and the impact it can have on people’s mental and physical wellbeing.

That’s why it was important for us to sponsor Jersey Spartan Athletic Club – an established club that has strong foundations and plays a significant role in Jersey, connecting like-minded individuals who share a passion for sport.

Why should clubs get involved with their local community?

If you’re a club, getting involved with your local community can have a range of physical, social, cultural and economic benefits.

Clubs can help to provide a dedicated space for children from every background and sport itself can be a great tool to engage with those who mightbe at risk of being involved in drug, alcohol abuse or even violent crime.

Through effective mentoring and coaching, more young people can experience the huge benefits of getting active and keeping fit. Clubs can also help to build social connections and bring people from different walks of life together.

For some, group activities provide a space that helps to support mental health and wellbeing. Being part of a group can not only motivate people to start and continue exercise, but it also provides a supportive community that helps mitigate anxieties about exercise, including low self-esteem.

Whether you’re a local sports club, or a music club, most importantly, you’re making a positive and long-lasting difference to others.

Role of sponsors

Sponsorship is a critical part of any club’s long-term success; it can allow administrators to train coaches and volunteers who will support the future generation of athletes and ultimately contribute to more people getting active.

Investing in local clubs can help with resources and purchasing much-needed equipment, as well as raising the profile to attract more members and volunteers – through events and training sessions.

Benefits for sponsors

As a local business, sponsoring a club is a great way to introduce yourself to residents within the area and the wider Island community. Not only does it build brand awareness, but it shows how you’re doing your part to help the community you work or even live in.

John Wood, managing director at FCM said:

As a sponsor for the Jersey Spartans, FCM recognises how vital clubs are in building healthier, happier and safer communities.
Without the help of sponsors, local clubs would struggle to support individuals and cement their place within their area. We encourage all businesses to get involved, if possible, and enable these organisations to help change people’s lives.”
